Cause Analysis:
Material Mismatch (Wrong Abrasive Used): Resin cutting discs are strictly categorized by material being cut. For example, using standard brown corundum discs on stainless steel not only fails to cut effectively but rapidly dulls and sheds abrasive grains. Specialized discs such as white corundum or single-crystal corundum-sharper and more suitable-are required for stainless steel.
Excessive Pressure Applied: Many workers mistakenly believe "pressing harder cuts faster." In reality, excessive pressure causes intense friction between the disc and workpiece, generating extreme heat that burns through the resin binder. This causes abrasives to detach prematurely before they've fully engaged in cutting, resulting in rapid, catastrophic wear.
Performance Degradation Due to Site Conditions: Resin (bonding agent) is highly sensitive to temperature and humidity. Poor storage conditions on construction sites-such as prolonged exposure to sunlight or high moisture-soften or hydrolyze the resin, drastically reducing wear resistance.
Insufficient Tool Power or Unstable Voltage: Long extension cords commonly used on sites lead to voltage drops, preventing grinders or cutters from reaching rated speeds. Reduced speed turns cutting into friction-based grinding, lowering efficiency, accelerating disc wear, and potentially burning the workpiece.
